FLORAL
CARE
Upon Receiving Your Gift Of Flowers... 1) Carefully clean your vase. If not properly washed, bacteria will grow and hinder the life of your flowers. Be sure to completely rinse out any soaps or cleaners. 2 ) Combine floral food and tepid water in your vase and stir well. Floral food is a combination of additives that help to nourish the flowers and discourage bacteria from growing in the water and is one of the best and easiest ways to extend the life of your flowers. Pay close attention and follow the directions on the package correctly as improperly mixed floral food can do more harm than good. 3) Remove any leaves from your flowers that will sit below the water line in your vase. This keeps the water cleaner, bacteria free and gives your flowers a longer vase life. 4 ) Cut the stems on an angle with a sharp pair of scissors under room temperature water. Cutting under water ensures no air blockage in the stem which can prevent the flowers from drinking, causing them to die prematurely. 5) Arrange your flowers in the vase containing the fresh water and floral food mix. 6) Keep them in a cool spot (65 to 72 degrees fahrenheit) away from direct sunlight, heating or cooling vents, direct drafts from a ceiling fan, and the tops of televisions or radiators. Appliances like televisions give off heat, causing flowers to dehydrate. 7) Be sure to change the water daily, remove any old and dead looking leaves and petals from the flowers. This ensures a longer vase life as leaves in the water will promote bacterial growth that can harm the flowers. Enjoy! * When your flowers arrive in wet foam, keep the floral foam soaked in water containing floral food provided by your florist. Be sure to follow the directions on the package. NOTE: These are guidelines for most common flowers such as roses, carnations etc. Different flowers require different care. Please call us if you have any questions. |
